San Diego Wreck Alley Attempting Expansion

California Ships To Reefs is trying to secure a 1960s Canadian destroyer, the HCMS Anapolis in order to sink next to the Yukon down in Wreck Alley offshore from San Diego.  This ship is 366ft long, identical in length to the HCMS Yukon.  Apparently the Anapolis was being prepped to be sunk in Canada, but due to some legal / environmental hangups, it's stuck now with the creditors, so CS2R is stepping in to try and save the ship from being scrapped and bring it to California.

Diving on the Yukon is an amazing experience and to possibly have the chance to visit two great wrecks (3 if you include the Ruby E) in one place would be incredible.  Hopefully CS2R pulls this together - to have that ship scrapped with all the volunteer work that's already gone into it would be a shame.

This slideshow isn't super exciting (and the music selection is ... interesting), but it shows how much work goes into converting one of these warships into a sinkable reef / dive attraction.
